Universal Studios Japan to expand its marketing area in steps To Tokai, Hokuriku, Shikoku and Chugoku area from July 10th and
nationwide from July 20th

July 01th, 2020

OTHER

Universal Studios Japan is currently limiting our marketing area to Kansai, except for annual pass holders, as part of our procedure for careful and moderate reopening from the temporary closure due to the prevention of Novel Coronavirus spread. We have decided to take a next step by expanding the area to the surrounding regions such as Tokai, Hokuriku, Shikoku and Chugoku area from July 10th and nationwide from July 20th.
The health and safety of our guests and crew members will continuously be our top priority. While maintaining the safe environment by taking thorough measures against the Novel Coronavirus spread such as wearing masks, sanitizing hands, keeping physical distances and enhancing sanitation procedures, we will move forward with the marketing area expansion as well as the operational capacity expansion in order to welcome more guests to our park, and by doing so we will support the recovery of tourisms in Japan.

The new area “Mask-Free Zone” started from June 19th, where our guests could take a break without wearing face masks, will be additionally installed at indoor facilities by the end of July. (Details to be described later)
In addition, to improve the operational flow and to reduce the crowded situation in the queue lines, we have modified our procedure for all ride attractions by allowing guests to sit in all rows instead of having an empty row in-between starting from today, July 1st.
The safety of our guests and crew members are protected through the various measures such as mandatory mask wearing, social distance keeping in queue lines and hands sanitizing prior to the ride experience and frequent seat sanitizing, and this operational procedure is aligned with the industrial guidelines issued by the central Government.

Regarding “SUPER NINTENDO WORLD” which had been announced to be opened before Tokyo Olympics, we will announce its grand opening timing in this fall or later, after carefully considering the alignment with the conditions of capacity expansion in moving forward.
