Employees Volunteer to Bring Energy to the Community!
A Joint Initiative by Two Companies to Deliver Christmas Presents to Children’s Cafeterias

On December 20, 2025, USJ LLC. carried out a joint initiative with its corporate marketing partner, Universal Citywalk Osaka (operated by Nomura Real Estate Asset Management Co., Ltd.), to deliver Christmas gifts as part of a volunteer project in Konohana Ward, Osaka, where its headquarters are located. The gifts were provided to 14 sites, including Children’s Cafeterias for children in need and community spaces for children.

This effort was about more than just delivering gifts. Employees from both companies came together ahead of time to collaborate on every step, from choosing the presents to wrapping them, writing handwritten message cards, and preparing them for delivery. As they worked to translate their desire to support local children into action, employees from both companies learned from one another across company lines and gained new insights, making it a meaningful experience for everyone involved.

In this article, we report on the entire process of the joint volunteer effort, from preparing the gifts to delivering them.

Kicking off the Children’s Cafeteria volunteer initiative with high hopes and warm enthusiasm

On November 7, 2025, volunteers recruited from within the two companies gathered to wrap gifts for local Children’s Cafeterias. The volunteers were briefed on past donation efforts, the purpose of the Christmas gift initiative, and the workflow and division of roles. The atmosphere was relaxed, yet full of positive energy and an enthusiastic sense of engagement.

USJ’s support for Children’s Cafeterias is part of its efforts aimed at “Creating a
Future Full of Children’s Smiles” in line with its CSR slogan, “LOVE HAS NO LIMIT.”

In recent years, the number of people who use Children’s Cafeterias has been increasing across the country. At the same time, many operators face challenges such as staffing and funding shortages, making it difficult to provide enough food and supplies. Furthermore, despite the many events that take place at the end of the year, some children may not have many opportunities for special experiences. This is why we at USJ want to give back to the local community by using our expertise, which we have cultivated at the park, in bringing smiles to people’s faces.

This Christmas gift initiative reflects our desire to give children the opportunity to experience the unique excitement of the season and make their lives a little brighter and more fun.

The shared commitment of two companies volunteering together in their first joint CSR initiative

While USJ has previously carried out CSR activities with volunteers recruited from inside the company, this is the first time we have partnered with volunteers from another company to conduct a joint CSR initiative outside of the park.

This initiative was made possible by the close relationship that USJ and the Nomura Real Estate Group have built over the years. Located in front of the park entrance, Universal Citywalk Osaka is a commercial facility that helps us uphold the value of the guest experience, serving as a partner in creating the same shared entertainment space.

We had long shared a desire with everyone at the Nomura Real Estate Group, which operates Universal Citywalk Osaka, to work together on a social contribution initiative for the local community. This Christmas project was the first time that we translated this idea into action.

This volunteer activity drew many employees from both companies. Many of the participants had been interested in contributing to the community but had not yet had the opportunity to get involved, and they were looking forward to their first volunteer experience.

“When I first heard about the volunteer activity, I expected a stiffer atmosphere, but it actually was lively and fun. As an entertainment company, USJ sure knows what they’re doing,” one participant from Nomura Real Estate Asset Management Co., Ltd. said.

Another volunteer from the same company commented, “I had a wonderful time working for the children while chatting with people I don’t normally get to meet.”

In addition to these positive reflections, there was a sense that the initiative had been a meaningful experience for those involved.

Participants packed around 600 gift sets, finishing the job 30 minutes ahead of schedule. Everyone worked proactively to quickly organize and improve the process, naturally settling into distinct roles.

Participants from USJ also spoke about the genuine joy they felt as they worked, while also expressing a desire to take part in future activities.

“I really enjoyed doing something different from my usual work, and picturing the children enjoying a happy moment kept me going,” one participant shared.

Another commented, “I’m glad we were able to bring smiles to children and families in the community beyond the park. I hope we can keep these kinds of activities going, even if it’s just in small ways.”

Delivering thoughtfully prepared gifts to the children

About 600 gift sets were prepared for this initiative and delivered to 14 sites in Konohana Ward, including Children’s Cafeterias and community spaces for children. Moreover, on December 20, a number of volunteers from USJ and Nomura Real Estate Asset Management Co., Ltd., dressed up as Santa Claus and paid a visit to the Torishima Children’s Cafeteria.

Going beyond the boundaries of daily work and company lines, this Christmas gift initiative came together through a shared desire to do something for others. As we work actively to carry these efforts forward, we hope to see the circle of kindness grow even further.

Going forward, USJ will continue contributing to local communities to help create super-energized communities full of children’s smiles, all while energizing people and society with our super-entertaining creativity.
