One Crew member tests positive for the Novel Coronavirus

  Universal Studios Japan has confirmed that one crew member tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus.

 This crew member is assigned to a merchandise store “Backlot Accessories”, and has taken the PCR test on Tuesday, July 28th. The result came back as positive on Wednesday, July 29th, and this crew member will be hospitalized as of today. The last working day of this crew member was July 20th and has not been on duty since. Also, co-working crew members that may have been in close contact with the said crew member have been instructed to stay at home for 14days counting from Monday, July 20th. As of this point in time, we have not confirmed any cluster infections.

  This crew member followed precautionary measures such as wearing masks, hand washing, and hand sanitization while on duty.

  In response to the PCR test result, Universal Studios Japan has promptly conducted thorough sanitization for the area this crew member has been in contact with, following the advice from the healthcare center using a specialized vendor. In addition to this, said merchandise store is closed today.

 The health and safety of our guests and team members have been and will continuously be our top priority at Universal Studios Japan, and we are taking thorough sanitation enhancement measures in accordance with the advice given from health care authorities and medical experts.
