USJ proactively recruits people aged 55 years and older as crew providing a place where they can thrive as an integral part of the organization.
Many middle-aged people and seniors aged 55 and older are employed as crew at Universal Studios Japan. In the past, becoming 60 years old meant that you had to retire at many companies but now, many people over the age of 60 are vibrant members of society and still young at heart and eager to work. Over 400 people over the age of 60 are employed at the park today in a variety of positions.
We call these people aged 55 and above, “Active Middle-Aged & Seniors” and believe they are an indispensable resource for the growth of the park. By utilizing the knowledge and experience they’ve cultivated over the years, not only are they able to be a driving force at the park, seeing them thrive as they work at the park raises moral for those around them, and we hope it also leads to the cultivation of younger staff.

A 61-year-old who works in the Parking Department of the park told us, “The solid training and flawless support system, working alongside colleagues, and more than anything – being able to bring smiles to guest’s faces – is truly fulfilling to me and I have fun every day.”
Since 2023, USJ has proactively taken part in joint job fairs for middle-aged and senior persons with approximately 250 middle-aged and senior aged people taking part in our information session in one day at a recent job fair. We aim to continue to proactively recruit middle-aged and seniors in efforts to build a diverse workplace environment.
