Characters

Maomao

Raised in the pleasure district, Maomao is an apothecary with an intense fixation on poisons and remedies.
She is abducted and sent to work in the rear palace as a servant, but when she saves Concubine Gyokuyou’s daughter from poisoning, Jinshi recognizes her talent and appoints her as a food taster.
She has since returned from the rear palace to the pleasure district, where she now works as an apothecary at the Verdigris House, a luxurious brothel.
Her adoptive father is her uncle Luomen, but her biological father is Lakan, a high-ranking military official. Her curiosity, passion for learning, and a sense of justice often lead her to get involved in various incidents.
